Antonio Delgado and Larry Sharpe: Two Ways to Challenge the Status Quo

New York’s next race for governor brings together two candidates who both want to shake things up, but in very different ways. Antonio Delgado and Larry Sharpe each represent a challenge to the status quo, one from inside the system and the other from far outside it.

Antonio Delgado, the current lieutenant governor and former congressman, built his path through public service and education. A Rhodes Scholar and Harvard Law graduate, Delgado believes reform starts within. His campaign focuses on rebuilding trust in government, lowering costs for working families, and creating fair opportunities for all New Yorkers. He sees leadership as a way to modernize the system and make it work for people again.

Larry Sharpe takes a completely different approach. A Marine veteran and entrepreneur, Sharpe has become a strong voice for libertarian values. He argues that real change begins when government steps back and allows communities to take control. His platform centers on lowering taxes, cutting regulation, and giving people more power over their own lives.

Both men are speaking to frustration with how New York is run. Delgado challenges the establishment by working to fix it, while Sharpe challenges it by wanting to replace it with something freer and simpler. For a new generation of voters, especially young men looking for meaning and independence, their campaigns raise an important question: should change come from reform or from revolution?

No matter who wins, both Delgado and Sharpe represent the same idea in different forms — that the old way of doing things is no longer enough.
